The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and Jeddah Chamber sign an Agreement to set up an integrated logistics park at an investment value of approximately one billion Saudi riyals and for an area of 3 million m2 and 10,000 jobs

2/26/23

Today, the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and Jeddah Chamber signed an Agreement to set up an integrated logistics park in Al Khumrah in the south of Jeddah at a cost of approximately one billion Saudi riyals, thus contributing to supporting the economic development, and doubling the national investments and partnership with the private sector.

The investment park will directly achieve the strategic objectives of Mawani as the key link in the transportation and logistics system, in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) by boosting its drive to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub, and the meeting point of three continents, alongside realizing the objectives of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), where Al Khumrah is one of the leading areas targeted for development as a global logistics area.

The park acts to increase the optimum utilization of Mawani's assets, achieve diversification in the assets and companies, and provide new direct and indirect jobs of more than 10,000 jobs in the logistics sector through the business and investments to be attracted by Al Khumrah area when it is developed, and to increasing the attractiveness of Jeddah Islamic Port by raising the level of the services and supporting logistic areas near the port. This, in turn, will increase the handling rates in conjunction with increasing the targeted re-export operations.

The integrated logistics park is distinguished by its total area of 3 million m2 divided into 3 sub-zones that include shared typical warehouses, medium-sized storage yards, single warehouses, large storage yards and on-demand warehouses. The various zones fulfill importers' and exporters' requirements for stocking multipurpose cargo, chilled goods, food commodities, and goods which are subject to safety and smooth transportation rules, in addition to administrative, commercial, and residential areas and service area.

The park offers fundamental services, including: move-in-ready warehouses, storage yards, re-export zones, custom storage, multiple logistics amenities, and sub-services, including commercial units, residential units, and staff accommodation in addition to state-of-the-art infrastructure development like the internal roads and essential services, as well as development of the urban landscape and forestation.
